SIGA — Smart Accident Geolocation System

Detecting a road accident within seconds and alerting emergency services immediately, so that response time stops costing lives.

What SIGA Is

The Smart Accident Geolocation System is BiToF Technologie's flagship initiative: a digital platform powered by artificial intelligence, GPS, IoT telemetry and real-time communication, designed to revolutionize road safety and emergency response across West Africa.

The system detects accidents within seconds and instantly alerts emergency services, significantly reducing response time and improving survival rates.

SIGA represents the intersection of technology, public safety, and digital governance — creating a reliable infrastructure for smarter, safer roads across Africa.

The Problem

Road traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of mortality in Sub-Saharan Africa. Many fatalities result not from the accident itself, but from slow emergency detection and response.

  1. Emergency response times often exceed 30 minutes.
  2. Lack of centralized digital monitoring systems limits coordination.
  3. Government and insurers lack accurate, real-time data to shape policy and reduce risk.

Traditional methods of accident reporting rely on manual calls and field reports, causing long delays and data inaccuracies. These structural gaps underline the urgent need for automated, data-driven accident detection and response systems.

How It Works

SIGA combines AI-powered analytics, GPS sensors, and IoT modules to instantly identify accidents and transmit geolocation data to emergency responders.

  1. Detect

An accident occurs — sensors detect abnormal vehicle telemetry.

  2. Analyse

The onboard AI module analyzes impact data and classifies the event.

  3. Alert

The system triggers real-time alerts to emergency services: ambulance, police, hospital.

  4. Share

Data is stored and shared with authorities for traffic and safety management.

Core Technologies

  1. AI-based accident detection and predictive analytics
  2. GPS and multi-source satellite positioning
  3. Telemetry and IoT modules for data transmission
  4. Real-time cloud communication for emergency coordination

Objectives & Expected Impact

Primary objectiveTo reduce road traffic fatalities by enabling instant accident detection and faster emergency intervention.

Specific Goals

  1. Reduce emergency response time by at least 30% within five years
  2. Decrease road accident deaths by 20% in pilot regions
  3. Provide governments and insurers with reliable accident and mobility data
  4. Create high-skilled technology jobs and strengthen local innovation ecosystems

Beyond Road Safety

SIGA's integrated geospatial data infrastructure will also support:

  1. Smarter transport management policies
  2. Predictive public safety analytics
  3. Institutional collaboration between transport, health, and insurance sectors

Deployment Partners

  1. Ministries of Transport: data integration and operational coordination
  2. Telecom operators: connectivity and alert delivery
